About
Popular in contemporary Chinese painting, this rice paper attracts artists by its natural color, clean surface, smooth texture, and full-bodied ink response.
The paper is made from 100% bamboo fiber. The maker of the paper is the Hakkas of Ninghua County, Fujian Province, a Chinese offshoot formed by migration southward around the 9th century. The earliest record of their papermaking activities can be dated back to the 10th century. In feudal China, this rice paper was used in writing of deed, official archives, accounts, copy of Buddhist sutra, and memorial to the throne.
